Tim Iroegbunam has successfully passed a medical at Everton ahead of his move from Aston Villa, sources have informed Football Insider.

On 18th June, Football Insider exclusively reported that the Merseyside giants had a bid accepted for the 20-year-old, and subsequently broke the news on 20th June that Iroegbunam was set to undergo a medical at Everton.

Sources confirm that the England U-20 international has now agreed terms on a three-year deal, with an option for a further year, as he prepares to join the ranks at Goodison Park. The transfer fee is expected to be around £10 million, as Sean Dyche looks to bolster his midfield options for the upcoming season.

However, the announcement of the transfer might be delayed until 1 July to ensure it is included in next year’s financial accounts.

Iroegbunam has struggled for first-team opportunities at Villa Park since his move from West Brom in 2021. The midfielder spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Championship side Queens Park Rangers, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 32 appearances.

Despite making 15 appearances for Unai Emery’s side last season, Iroegbunam only started two matches. Notably, he featured in both home and away ties against Ajax in the Europa Conference League, which Villa won 4-0 on aggregate.

Football Insider reported in March that Ajax had shown interest in Iroegbunam, but it now appears that Everton have won the race for his signature. The Merseysiders might delay the official announcement until the start of next month, as they are believed to be close to their allowable profit and sustainability (PSR) limits.

Last month, Football Insider revealed that Everton would need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before submitting their accounts at the end of June to balance the books. This financial manoeuvring could influence the timing of Iroegbunam’s announcement.
