Dan Friedkin’s takeover of Everton should be ratified within the next six weeks, according to The Esk.
The Toffees blogger responded on Twitter on 21 June to a fan’s question about the timeline for the takeover, following the club’s announcement that the American had entered an exclusivity period with Farhad Moshiri to finalise the deal.
Due diligence remains the major hurdle for Friedkin, considered the biggest potential barrier to completing the takeover successfully. The Premier League must also conduct their own checks, predicted to be more straightforward and almost automatic, according to Tutto Mercato Web on 18 June.
If all proceeds smoothly, The Esk predicts the takeover should “probably” be confirmed by early August.
Farhad Moshiri grants Dan Friedkin Everton takeover exclusivity:
For Everton, the sooner the better to move into a new era after months of Moshiri entering agreements with groups that ultimately failed to finalise deals.
The 777 Partners saga last season only added to supporters’ anxiety, especially as they witnessed issues growing at other clubs controlled by the Miami-based firm, while Everton’s debt increased by over £200 million, as reported by Alan Myers on 11 May.
That money did, however, help the club through a tumultuous season, and there now appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel.
Until the takeover is officially ratified and confirmed, nothing can be taken for granted. Many Evertonians are likely to remain cautious given their experiences with the club and the current majority shareholder.
Nonetheless, the prospect of starting the final Premier League season at Goodison Park with clarity for the future and a plan to address financial issues would be a significant step forward.
If the club can transition into the new Bramley Moore Dock development in a more secure state, there is hope that the turmoil of the past few seasons may finally come to an end.
