Arsenal FC ready to sanction three more signing before the transfer window closes

Arsenal’s board of directors are ready to give the green light for three more transfers to ease some of the mounting pressure on boss Mikel Arteta.

On the opening day of the new Premier League season on Friday, the Gunners suffered a miserable loss at newly built Brentford. It got worse before getting better when Arsenal host Chelsea on Sunday – a game Romelu Lukaku hopes will make his Blues debut – before heading to Manchester City later this month.

Arsenal may be without a period to their name when the international holiday arrives in September, but Arteta’s roster could be strengthened with additional signatures so far.

According to The Mirror, the club are prepared to sanction “at least two and maybe three more transfers” before the window closes at the end of the month.

Arsenal have spent £76m this summer bringing Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White to the Emirates. Leicester City’s James Madison says Arteta wants to add another creative midfielder to his line-up with his first choice.

But with the Foxes under pressure to sell one of their prized assets, the £70m price tag could be out of Arsenal’s reach. Martin Odegaard is an alternative to the agent from Norway, who travels to London on Sunday to speak to the Premier League. Arsenal are also interested in signing Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale but the Blades have maintained their £30m value so far.
