Best Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Forward of the 2020/21 Champions League Nominees

The European Football Federation (UEFA) has announced nominations for the 2020/21 Champions League Best Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Striker.

The candidates are:

Goalkeepers :

Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Ederson (Manchester City), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea)

Defenders :

César Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Rúben Dias (Manchester City), Antonio Rüdiger (Chelsea)

Midfielders :

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Jorginho (Chelsea), N’Golo Kanté (Chelsea)

Forwards :

Erling Haaland (Dortmund), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern), Kylian Mbappé (Paris)

In addition to the first three nominations for all of the above positions, the players here were also nominated for 4th, 5th and 6th places.

UEFA awards were introduced ahead of the 2016/17 season. The awards were presented along with the names of UEFA Player of the Year and UEFA Player of the Year.

The awards ceremony will take place in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday 26 August, the day of the 22/22 Champions League group draw. The 2020/21 Europa League roster will be announced the next day.
