N’golo Kante will cancel Chelsea’s trip to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League today due to a positive coronavirus test.
The 30-year-old France international is also unavailable for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Southampton at Stamford Bridge. Kante has struggled with fitness issues this season, forcing Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to manage his playing time on the pitch.
Kante did not complete the full 90 minutes in any of the six games he played in all competitions that season. UEFA’s current best midfielder lasted an hour in Saturday’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Premier League champions Manchester City and also missed the first game against Zenit St. Petersburg because of a groin problem.
Juventus are also worried about injuries of thier Own ahead of the match at the Allianz Stadium.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side will have to play without the influential Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata after both were injured against Sampdoria at the weekend.
France coach Didier Deschamps will be closely monitoring Kante’s situation as the reigning champions face Belgium in next week’s UEFA Nations League semifinals.
