It was always a worrying moment when the main striker was injured and Chelsea won last night to Malmö but Lukaku and Werner was out.
The club may have to wait for a scan to fully assess the damage. The Goal report says he will be suspended, but expects him to only be for two or three weeks rather than months.
If the main substitute Timo Werner is injured as well, it will still be a problem, but it is reasonable to assume that Thomas Tuchel has at least one of the main options as he is still arguing about playing Norwich this weekend.
Removing both players means someone might have to play out of position, but that was impressive when Callum Hudson-Odoi showed up and Kai Havertz could also play at number 9 if needed during his budget period against Norwich. He had to win an easy cage because this weekend could be a blessing. Lukaku is not a player with a long history of injury.
He is clearly strong and can take the pain as he has played over 30 games in nine seasons in a row and I don’t think he should be playing here for too long.
