Switzerland the highest flyers in Euros

The European Championships are now in the knockout stages, and Switzerland have flied the most number of miles so far in the tournament with 7,245. They face favourites, France in the round of 16, and will have completed that number of miles when they arrive in Bucharest for Monday’s match.

Wales have racked up the second-highest flight miles covered, with 5,382 miles now that they have made it to Amsterdam for their last-16 fixture against Denmark. Wales head coach Page has lamented the huge travel demands placed on his team due to the tournament, saying:

‘It’s not been easy because we’ve had to go to Baku and then travel to Italy. Now we’re going to have to go to Amsterdam.

‘On paper it sounds like a great idea to have it all round Europe. But logistically, it is an absolute nightmare.

Wales’ neighbours, England have not had to leave the comforts of Wembley Stadium, and will play their fourth match in a row there as they go up against first-time flyers Germany.  Should England win against the Germans on Tuesday, they will have to make their only trip of the competition to Rome since the latter stages of the Euros are all Wembley.

As per the latest improvements in stadium capacity regulations, about 60,000 fans will be allowed to attend the knockout stage games at Wembley.
