Xavi Hernandez has set his sights on making Barcelona a team to be proud of and therefore the fans will love him equally.
One of his decisions came straight from the left with the news that former team-mate Dani Alves would return to Camp Nou.
The news was confirmed on FC Barcelona’s official website on Friday. While hiring a 38-year-old footballer to return the club to its former glory may seem like an odd decision, it actually makes sense and for a number of reasons.
Firstly, as a presence in the dressing room, Alves’ style and attitude is a definite winner for Xavi. As the most eminent footballer in history, he would earn the respect of his contemporaries.
As he showed in the recent Olympic finals, he hasn’t lost his natural form either, so he didn’t come just for one high-paying day. With only a year left in the World Cup final, he is staying fit and playing in Europe’s top league, which gives him the best chance to sing in Qatar.
