Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Burnley that attacking defender Marcos Alonso will not play.
The Spanish defender picked up the injury during the Blues’ midweek game against Malmo. Unfortunately for Alonso, his recent injury is expected to keep him out for at least the next game in his team’s busy schedule.
When asked recently by reporters for an update on the state of his team, Tuchel said, “Unfortunately, Marcos Alonso and Mateo [Kovacic] are still out. “So no news and unfortunately Marcos Alonso got injured in the last minute of the Malmö game.”
He has now tried to train but the pressure on his ankles is too great. It hurts too much: “Nothing major, but it hurts too much now, so he won’t be in the team tomorrow.”
